Mac Spell Check Command
Mac Spell Check Settings
In recent attempts to find the cause of this problem, I found that my AppleSpell.service bundle was corrupted. I replaced that bundle (in /Library/Services) with a working copy from another machine, and now in all applications which use the OS X spell check service, whenever I attempt to access that service an alert is displayed saying 'couldn't contact spell checker'.
I'm now at a loss as to what to do. I've never used or tried to use any third-party spell check service, and I haven't observed any other abnormal behavior on my system. I'm running 10.4.6 on a G4 PowerBook.
Mac Os X Pages Spell Checkers
The spell and grammar check feature in OS X can be used in two very different ways, depending on whether you prefer automatic or manual correction. For those who prefer correction on-the-fly, you. It seems like Pages (and maybe Keynote 2) offer more customisation in that sense (but take their default from the system language and not from the language set for the global spellchecker). My favourite feature of the OS X spellchecker however is the 'Multilingual' setting. Spelling Corrector allows you to check spelling in several languages. It performs instantaneous spelling checking of the words you enter. You may want to check out more software for Mac, such as Medical Spelling Dictionary for Pages, Spelling 1-2 or Master Spell, which might be similar to Spelling Corrector.
